Splashback

I have just finished cutting this kitchen splashback. I love the contrast of the black pattern against the blue wall The photo doesn't do it justice so I've added an image of the glass on a piece of white paper before it was installed.

Framed papercuts

Finished and framed papercuts in my studio

Work in progress

I love strong line and have have spent the past couple months drawing on the wall and ceiling of the hall in our house. The turquoise tree will be a coat hanger and the small area will be filled with plants. I'm planning on laying fake grass on the floor to add to the effect of walking into a magical jungle when entering the house.

More papercuts

Here are my latest papercuts - I've framed the Picassoish one so that now it looks nice and crisp and clean behind glass - and I've added a new one that I completed today. It's in grey and the images show the design and the progression of the cutting.

New Work

Enjoying using just the basic tools of a pencil, knife and paper I'm developing a collection papercuts.
These are some of the first experimental pieces based on old drawings in my sketch book.
All my glass designs start life as a drawing followed by a stencil, but the stencils have to be discarded after sandblasting. The process of creating my glass becomes complex as it often requires processes over which I have no control, such as toughening, polishing and double glazing. I am therefore drawn to the simplicity of being able to create imagery using a few tools in my hands and hope that it will lead my work in new directions.

Chair

I designed this fabric a few years ago and have recently had this old chair belonging to my mother upholstered with it

These images show the progression of a commission from the initial drawings, iilustrations of the glass insitu, the glass before it left my studio and finally, the clients photographs of the panels in the kitchen windows (thank you Bob!)
Each panel is approx 1100mm x 800mm and was designed to create a feature in an internal wall which transmits light.
